Life as Actress: The Rehearsal

Rehearsals

I keep my promises, babes! Here are some backstage pictures from one of my current theatre-rehearsals. Here’s the situation:
At the moment I’ve got rehearsal for a comedy, which will premiere in early May, and a drama which will premiere in the end of May.
2 leading roles. Insanity. My days are packed with gestures, expressions and words words words.

I can tell you: In the evening I can hardly speak a proper sentence. haha!
Some of you might wonder what’s happening at a rehearsal and how actors get jobs.
Well, first of all you’ll get a call from a director who offers you a role in a certain play.
If you’re interested you’ll get the script and you start learning the lines
Then there’ll be a first reading session with the director, the assistant director and the other actors.
After that the play might be edited and adapted, followed by a lot of reading sessions.
The first 5-10 rehearsals just take place at the table, reading the play over and over again
and discussing the characters. That’s what you see in the pictures above.
After blood, sweat and tears there’ll be the premiere and you’ll almost faint from exhaustion.
But it will be worth it. It’s just like giving birth.

The hardest part of a play, from my POV, where you can’t move or feel the character in your body, but nevertheless, essential.
