If you ever wondered how Louis Vuitton shoes are made (and especially where), now you probably know it. Vuitton’s shoe factory is located in Fiesso D’Artico a 20mins drive from Venice (still dreaming of this city..) and it’s another secret place where usually nobody non-shoemaking has access to. Lucky me (and you) ! I don’t know if they have a blogger alert to keep the employees smiling but the people in Fiesso seem incredibly happy, focused and passionate about their work. Just like in Asnières you can absolutely see that they love what they’re doing. And you really need a lot of passion since it takes 150-200 operations for one single shoe! About 500 shoes in all different sizes are made for each LV fashionshow, which makes over 100.000 operations!! Hands down this is incredible! Maybe that doesn’t fully justify the hefty price of the shoes but now I know how much effort it takes to make a pair of shoes and that we often (too often) forget about that. I applaud the craftmanship! The dilemma is that after visiting the holy halls of shoemaking and watching Maurizio, Francesco and Paola putting so much love in every pair, I want these Ghesquiere ankle boots so badly…but this is kind of another story.
