Ever since the parisian spaceship landed back in September, (re)beaming A-line skirts, disc earrings and overknees on fashion grounds, I got the strong feeling that I might have to rethink my 70’s scepticism… Somehow I’m getting more and more into this – maybe just because my eyes are now used to seeing brown suede trenchcoats, turtlenecks and airy hippie dresses (mhhh Chloe!)?
The major 70’s revival already started last season but this Spring/Summer there will be no way round this decade. And who kicked it off? Nicolas Ghesquière – the creator of desire. After he’d made us all crave for single statement earrings and mini trunks, all we want now is to cover ourselves in ladylike leather and gracing the streets in a woven leather dress with our new disc earrings dangling in the wind.
Together with his trio géniale, Juergen Teller, Bruce Weber and Annie Leibovitz, he created such a desirable look for the Louis Vuitton Series 2 (one bunch of V-shaped ear cuffs just like Jennifer Connelly wears, pretty please!) that I can’t stop thinking about this white woven dress. Yes I’m overwhelmed by amazingness and yes I also want to overlook Central Park in 70s silhouettes, just like Freja.
I guess I’m ready for a time warp – are you?
