6 MUST-WATCH DOCUMENTARIES

The Top 5 Documentaries | more on www.viennawedekind.com

I’m a Docu Addict! Whenever I’m not watching the latest TV-Series (another heavy addiction) I like to watch Documentaries. Preferably medical/art or fashion themed. Now that the temperatures constantly drop I love to spend the evenings with a cup of tea and a great Docu. This is, in my eyes, the best bad weather disctraction! Here’s my Top 6 Documentaries you really have to watch:

1. THE JINX (2015)
This is the creepiest guy I’ve probably ever seen and one of my favourite docus from the past decade.

2. FINDING VIVIAN MAIER (2013)
A documentary about the mysterious Nanny Vivian who secretly took over thousands of pictures on Chicago’s streets and is now
called „one of the best street photographer of the 20th century“.

3. THE BRIDGE (2006)
This is a documentary exploration of the mythic beauty of the Golden Gate Bridge, the most popular suicide destination in the world, and those drawn by its call.

4. MONTAGE OF HECK (2015)
I grew up with Nirvana so how could I not love this documentary?

5. BILL CUNNINGHAM NEW YORK (2010)
Everyone in the fashion industry knows Bill. He kind of is the godfather of streetstyle photography.
This documentary is about his work and his sweet character. A must-see for every Photography lover.

6. DIOR AND I (2014)
After watching this documentary I have even more respect for designer Raf Simons. The film gives us a glimpse into the Dior ateliers
and how Raf designs his first Haute Couture Show. It is massively touching and inspiring, not only for Dior lovers.

Now I wanna know your favourites! Any recommendations?

I loved watching “Blackfish” and “Exit through the giftshop” lately. Definitely gonna check out your recommendations!

I take the best film/docu recos come from you ;) At the moment I am obsessed with Human Planet, an anthropological series about human habitats all over the world. I have the thing for anthropology, archaelogy, and astronomy, so give me any documentaries about either and you will get me in front of a TV screen immediately. :)

I looooved “Cobain – Montage of Heck”. It’s super touching and dives really deep into Kurt Cobain’s personality, showing him as a husband, father and human being, instead of merely a rockstar.
One thing I don’t like about documentaries is when they’re super short. That’s also not the case with MoH; it kept me busy for more than 2 hours. Much to my bf’s dismay, he was bored after 30 minutes :P

Für mich ist Blackfish eine Doku, die man unbedingt gesehen haben sollte. Demnächst werde ich noch Earthlings sehen. Bis jetzt habe ich mich da noch nicht rangetraut.
