When planning a city trip it all comes down to the right hotel. I think we all agree that this choice can have great effects on your overall city impression and how much you’ll enjoy your stay. Without a doubt New York has lots of amazing hotels but only a few got the right mix between unique coolness, modern architecture and affordable comfort. The Nolitan Hotel in Lower Manhattan is definitely amongst those Happy Places – that’s why I’ve chosen it to be my home away from home during my Big Apple adventures.

When picking a hotel, space is an important criteria for me, especially during Fashion Week, when you’re drowning in suitcases, piles of clothes and camera equipment. So whenever I’m travelling I look out for modern & convenient boutique hotels that can deal with both my luggage and my breakfast needs (I’m talking about real good coffee to get me started).

Entering the Nolitan Hotel, which is located in Little Italy with all the hotspots and cool cafés just a stone’s throw away, one of the first things you see is a silver velvet sofa. Yap, that kind of sofa that stole our hearts on Pinterest. It’s right next to the rentable skateboards and the brown chesterfields. Any more questions?

I’d like to check-in, please.

Five minutes later the hotel staff looked like a jenga tower, balancing all our luggage (7 pieces, woops!) as it was nothing, while we arrived at room 401. A spacious sanctuary made out of wood, concrete and glass with white washed walls and crisp white bed sheets that made me sleep like a baby. Or maybe it was the air filled with the Aveda rosemary/mint shower cream that made me so relaxed!? Or the tiny Godiva good-night chocolates we got every evening…

Hey and don’t get me started on that Avocado Toast!! I had a real breakfast moment (fresh OJ & goat-cheese omlettes, hellooo?) at Bread Nolita – food heaven downstairs from the hotel. See, I’m obsessed with great hotels.

So if you’re looking for a place where you can recharge your batteries while drinking the best Strawberry Daiquiri on a rooftop with a mind-blowing Skyline view, the Nolitan might be the best choice!
