I guess I’m not the only one loving all those knits and layer-friendly pieces that are currently gracing our well curated fall wardrobe. The layering game is a great passion of mine but as much as I love to get lost in the cosiest cardigans, biker jackets and XL knits, there is a risk of looking like some random guy from Sesame Street. Or the Michelin Man. This would be totally fine on a lazy sunday but maybe not so much at work… Time for a more feminine approach to fall layering. Here are a few tips & tricks:
Layering is all about the mix and match of textures. Using different materials is what makes a look interesting. Pairing your chunky knits with soft materials, such as silk and chiffon, is a great way to start. Also denim and suede go perfectly with wool.
Make sure to always keep the balance between oversized and more fitted. For example: As this Edited cable knit sweater is quite chunky, I tucked it into the denim skirt to keep the right proportions. If you’re wearing heavy knits and XL tops I would really consider wearing heeled boots or sandals for a well-composed look.
Once you got all your layers together, start playing around. Button and unbutton your skirts, roll up your sleeves to show some texture underneath. Turn your shirts and jackets around and show some skin. Fashion is all about having fun and try something new. Fall layering is no exception!
