It might have been this unbearable urge to escape all the duties, dead lines, to-dos and must-posts that lead me to book a sun infused mid-October vacation. Or just the lack of tan, seratonine and social life. Drawbacks of a digital nomad… Whatever it was, the vision of a much needed time-out became quite vivid. And here’s the good thing about our round round planet is that there’s always summer somewhere, even better when mentioned 30°C are just a 2 hours flight away… So last week I’ve changed my geotag from Vienna, Austria to Hillside Beach Club, Turkey and it was the best time-out experience I’ve had in my life.
Got picked up at Dalaman Airport by a rad car filled with free water bottles and Wifi. Ok, the latter might not be the best choice when you’re planning a digital detox but the first impression was uh-mazing. As soon as we where driving down the picturesque hills that hugged the resort, I felt utterly relaxed.
First thing upon our arrival was diving into the bright whitewashed space that was called breakfast buffet. The food sanctuary of any veggy loving, healthy living Sporty Spice. Green Smoothie and Quinoa milk anyone? Ok I’ve picked up the veggie plater AND Nutella pancakes, because…. YOLO.
No doubt there were countless highlights throughout this week but if I had to pick two it would be Serenity Beach & Sanda Nature Spa. Serenity Beach is a secluded beach that you can only reach by gondola (need I say more??) or a 15mins walk. This means that there are no screaming Minis on inflatable Donuts (not that I don’t love kids & donuts, just not on vacation) only sea, silence & iced coffee. Let’s not forget about the photogenic hammocks and the fresh salad bowls you’ll get for lunch. Hashtag heaven on earth. Oh and If you happen to be an extra lazy cat – you can order your fresh orange juice (or ice cold rosé) via Beach Order App. That’s what digital natives like yours truly really gets excited…
As I tried to recharge my batteries, one thing was on my MUST DO list: Getting a hot stone massage at the hotel’s nature Spa. Ok, I ended up getting hooked on this relaxing, lavendar-oiled feeling and the fruit infused after-treatment water that lead up to 3 more (hot stone) massages. Never felt so ZENed since I became self-employed. This is something I really wanna continue back home… And maybe the sunset boat cruise and the clear blue water did it’s magic too.
This turkish time-out came just at the right time and brought back lots of energy and inspiration. After this sun-kissed week I feel perfectly prepared for all the great stuff that will happen the next weeks and it’s quite likely that I will come back…
