Working in the fashion industry means constantly dealing with new collections, uncountable trends and seasonal hits. This business became so fast-paced that you might get as dizzy as riding on a carrousel. With all these glorious Spring/Summer/Fall/Winter trends flooding the magazines and our Instagram Feeds its no wonder that Fashion faces one big problem: overproduction.
This industry has a large impact on our planet and the environment. With all the cravings we (=social media) generate, the companies try to deal with our growing demands. Mass consumption leads to mass production. Leading to air pollution, water crisis and a harmed eco-system.
So it‘s about time to develop a more conscious mind. We don‘t need to buy all the latest it-bags, Balenciaga sneakers or trendy jackets to feel good. Because shopping will never make us feel genuinely happy or loved. It‘s just a nice add-on and should simply highlight our personality instead of creating one.
I‘m convinced that if we buy less but with better quality, if we pay attention to fabrics and re-purpose our old stuff we would feel much more satisfied. And pass this conscious feeling on to our children…
That‘s why I support the new H&M Conscious Exclusive Collection – an homage to the Arts and Crafts movement in Sweden. Taking inspiration from the creative home of 20th-century Swedish artists Karin and Carl Larsson, the H&M Conscious Exclusive Collection is using recycled silver, fishnets and organic linen.
The garments have an impeccable quality and you can tell by touching them that H&M paid a lot of attention to the quality. So rather than hunting down the next big IT Pieces, invest in a timeless summer blouse or an arty silk caftan. The future lies in a conscious mind…
