For a girl that isn’t much into skirts I’ve worn a surprisingly amount of the aforementioned this summer. Don’t get me wrong: I am and always will be a pants afficionada. But I’ve noticed a slight skirt increase in my wardrobe lately. Blame it on the heatwave (Vienna scored 30 days over 30°C in a row) or just the fact that I finally found a bunch of skirts that doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a skirt. Sounds confusing? Yap, you might be right. But I’m talking about too girly connotations, school uniform vibes or any other skirt clichés you might like to avoid.
But how to wear skirts when you’re usually more the Jeans + T-Shirt type?
– The trick is to choose pieces with interesting details but an overall simple design. Well-structured, streamlined, monochrome skirts. Nothing too fancy and bold.
– If you choose to wear patterns (like in my case a checked midi-skirt) make sure to keep the rest super simple. A basic T-Shirt or slick Cami Top are the best choices.
– Always add some boyish accents to balance out the look. Chunky sandals, Dad Sneakers, Blazers or oversized Shirts will do the trick.
– Make sure to keep the accessories simple and the jewelry at a minimum.
With these tipps & tricks you’ll enjoy wearing skirts just as much as I do. You’re welcome!
