Antwerp Fashion Show 2013
SHOWROOM. If I had to choose a caption for my weekend in Antwerp it would definitely be FASHION. After visiting the MoMu and discovering Antwerp’s amazing vintage stores with a personal shopping guide, I attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Fashion Show! Though it was the longest show I’ve ever been to (almost 4 hours) it was such an amazing, inspiring experience. I was impressed by the level of creativity, craftmanship and uniqueness the students showcased and I’ve spotted lots of promising young designers: |
The show started with historical costumes and collections made by students from the 2nd year (favourite: Woojic Jo), then the
first and 3rd year students followed with their work (amazing presentation: Cameron Foden). The highlight of course was the
Master Collection from the 4th and final year. The collections ranged from colourful to lots of nude, pastels and monochrome.
Beside the classic materials (cotton, wool, silk and chiffon) the students also came up with unexpected pieces:
Pierre Renaux, you nailed it with the 3D printed heels !!! Another beautiful collection: HEIMAT by Austrian (yeah!) designer
Alexandra Helmlinger and RHINESTONE COWBOY by Lise Eerens. 150 Models from Belgium and over 100 international students
made this show an extraordinary experience! Antwerp Fashion, thanks for having me! I’m definitely coming back in 2014!
