FEB 20th // 15.00
Ciao Milano! Ready for some fashion-infused days.
The best thing about afternoon flights (except for breathtaking views)? You’re hotel room is already available and you get to take a shower before you leave for the first appointments…
17.00 // Brera – POMELLATO Presentation
First up: discovering the new Brera Collection by Pomellato– a thinner version of the brand’s staple chains (launching in May). My favorite are the tiny chain earrings – which would upgrade any Jeans & T-Shirt Look in a second.
18.00 // Brera – BOYY Aperitivo
You might already know that I’m a huge fan of Boyy, the iconic bag brand found by Jesse Dorsey and Wannasiri Kongman. Lucky me was invited to their private Milanese apartment slash showroom slash interior heaven. A modern abode in the middle of Milan. Also got to discover the new collection and oh boyy (please excuse that cheesy pun) I feel in love once again.
19.30 // Da Regina – DINNER with Friends
I mean it wouldn’t be a trip to Italy without Pizza & Pasta, right?
FEB 21th // 8.00 MAX MARA Show
Early bird. Off to the Max Mara Show – always one of my Milan Fashion Week Highlights.
The location: The airy and light-filled Aula of Bocconi University – allowing passersby and students to watch the spectacle through the floor-long windows. The show: 3 models in bright colours opening the show, followed by all kinds of animal prints, the most gorgeous neutrals and to-die-for overknee boots. I would literally wear anything from this collection (ok, minus the bold coloured knits haha) – bravo Max Mara!!
10.30 // Shooting
After the show we took pictures of my Max Mara Outfit (Bag is from Boyy, Jacket Nobi Talai, Boots are Zara) and met Pupa, the cutest white Rascal there is. I’ve never touched anything softer in my life… Pupa, amore mio!
11.30 // Via Andrea Solari – FENDI Show
This was special and very touching. Queuing up for one of Karl’s last shows made me very sentimental. When a journalist from Reuters, an international news agency, asking me about the importance of this show and how I was feeling, the loss of Karl Lagerfeld’s genius suddenly hit me hard. Attending the Fendi Show is always one of the biggest inspirations and this time even more. A beautiful tribute to a legend. The collection: leather coats, strong shoulders (padded shoulders are a thing next season!), airy dresses (Gigi in bright yellow was definitely a fav!). The soundtrack: Lou Reed’s Smalltown & Heroes by David Bowie. Highlight: After the finale a short clip was screened, showing Karl drawing the look he wore on his first day at Fendi. I had tears in my eyes.
12.45 // Piazza XXV Aprile – FURLA Presentation
After a short break to regroup (and to be honest: change heels for kicks) we headed off to Piazza XXV Aprile where Furla had opened a small pop-up store. On the menu: the world-premiere of the new Furla sneakers. I mean, one can never have too many white sneakers, am I right?
14.00 // Duomo – CAMPAIGN SHOOT
18.00 // Short BREAK
Done with shooting, totally wasted and starving. Back to the hotel, small snack, shower, emails, conference calls, first selection of pictures
21.00 // MG Gallery Sofitel – EDITING
During Fashion Week there basically is no rest for the wicked. Once again met with Olja and Mauricio to go through shooting Day 1.
FEB 22nd // 8.00 – CAMPAIGN Shoot Day 2
Early bird once again. Making the most of the beautiful weather (=17 degrees hell yeah) for our 2nd part of the campaign shoot. All went well and we celebrated with… coca cola & espressi, followed by a slight caffeine rush.
12.30 // SPORTMAX Show
Probably one of my favorite shows this season: Fierce girls on blush sands, a very promising combination. Futuristic tailoring combined with dynamic feminity. Sportswear-inspired elements meet everyday essentials like sneakers, baseball caps, sunglasses. I’m still dreaming of these oversized, beige coats paired with leather hats and sock sneakers. So good!
17.00 // COCCINELLE Presentation
After a couple of office hours (emails, calls, schedule meetings) in the hotel, we found ourselves at the Coccinelle Presentation in Brera. 4 rooms filled with FW19 bags – from square to round, including a cubic, croc-embossed gem.
19. 00 // Palazzo Reale – BACKSTAGE AIGNER
One of my favorite things to do is taking a peek behind the scenes of a fashion show. A wonderful tradition is visiting the backstage buzz before the Aigner Show.
20.18 // AIGNER SHOW
Uhhhh more earthy tones! Loved the collection – see my full review here
21.40 DA REGINA Finally Foooooood
This is our favorite restaurant in the Duomo area, can you tell? Together with a hoard of German colleagues we took over the restaurant and literally ordered a room full of Burrata, Cannelloni & Calzone. Yum dot com.
And yes afterwards we headed home doing even more emails and editing…
FEB 23rd // 9.00 PRADA
8.00 Check-out, quick breakfast and then off to PRADA!! The Re-See is always a favorite of mine, meeting the wonderful Prada Team, touching the amazing clothes and wishlist-ing all the divine accessories. This time I laid my eyes on the gorgeous leather creepers. But more about Prada AW19 in the next post…
10.30 // JIMMY CHOO Presentation
Last mission: diving into shoe heaven that is Jimmy Choo and picking my favorites from the Fall/Winter collection. And that would definitely be these white walkers…
16.00 // Malpensa AIRPORT– Boarding
And off we go, back to Vienna, back to reality for one day, before we’re heading to Paris. More about this next time…
HEY Do you like these kind of posts? Are they somehow inspiring? Informative? Leave a comment and let me know!
