WHAT TO WEAR TO A SUMMER WEDDING
Wedding season is in full swing now and our calendars are bursting with love-themed celebrations. But what to wear to a summer wedding without feeling too dressed up? Here’s a minimalist guide to an effortless wedding-guest outfit:
COLOUR
As a minimal style lover I’m no big fan of pastels and flower prints so I try to stick to subtle colours and patterns. While wearing white still is a no-no (it’s the bride’s special day!) and all-red can be too eyecatching (you might not want to steal the bride’s spotlight) wearing black can be very chic and wedding-appropriate. For my sister’s wedding last weekend (as seen on Snapchat) I’ve chosen a black satin slip dress and spiced it up with eye-catching accessories. Another great colour would be shimmering silver or navy blue.
DRESS CODE
My sister asked all her wedding guests to add something red to their outfits. That’s why I’ve chosen a red clutch bag and red nails. However, always follow the dress code – may it be Cocktail, Black Tie or Garden Party. Dressing accordingly is the first step to a fun summer wedding!
STYLE
If the dress code is Black Tie a floor-length gown will be the best choice (or two chic separates), when it says Cocktail you can either choose a knee-length cocktail dress or a sophisticated suit. For beach or garden weddings I would choose an airy maxi dress and chic sandals. The advantage of a simple dress is, that you can wear it several times by playing around with different accessories.
ACCESSORIES
When you’ve chosen a monochrome dress it all comes down to the accessories. A pair of killer heels, a striking clutch bag or festive jewellery. Don’t forget to bring a pair of flats with you so you won’t have to suffer at the dance floor…
