WHERE TO STAY IN VIENNA: THE GUESTHOUSE
Bright open spaces, wood & marble accents, fresh flowers in every room, reading corners… What sounds like straight out of my Interior Musings series is actually a design abode here in Vienna: The Guesthouse, a small boutique hotel in the heart of the city, right between the State Opera and Stephansplatz.
I’ve been there countless times, enjoying a cup of tea or one of their yummy potatoe waffles in the hotel’s own Brasserie (yes – thank god it’s open to public!) while watching the people buzzing on the streets. I just love the Guesthouse for it’s tasteful mix between modern & classic charm like art walls in each room (inspiring photography by Wolfgang Zac) and marble bathrooms. Oh and don’t get me started on the wonderful Lederhaas Products (organic skincare made in Austria) you’ll find in each and every room.
It’s safe to say that this design hotel knows how to make one feel „home away from home“. Last week I was lucky enough to be invited for a little Staycation at the Duplex Suite (= interior heaven on 2 floors incl a dreamy terrace!) and I spend hours sitting in the reading nook and enjoying the spectacular view over my hometown. Creamy cappuccino and good music included, of course. By the way, the 39 suites & rooms are designed by British designer Sir Terence Conran who kept the interior modern and sophisticated. Just what your girl loves…
However, I think we all should take more time-outs, whether it’s a little sleepover in your own town or just a special dinner with your loved ones. I highly recommend to try the traditional Wiener Schnitzel at the Brasserie + cheese plate for dessert! Heaven…
Thank you The Guesthouse Vienna for being such a wonderful host – you have a special place in my hospitality heart.
