Venice is my happy place. The most inspiring city I know. From my very first visit aged 8 it put a magic spell on me. No traffic noise, just shimmering waters and the gentle sound of taxi boats. Getting lost in the narrow alleys, greeting baggage porters on their way to Venetian Palazzos, sipping Bellini while watching the hustle and bustle on the Canale Grande. A slice prosciutto melting on the tongue, the snap of crisp Grissini, the smell of sea salt. And then the art & architecture! Peggy Guggenheim, Biennale di Venezia, Doge's Palace, Galleria dell'Accademia... Venezia, mi amore!

It was my first time visiting the BIENNALE DI VENEZIA and I was totally overwhelmed by the amazing art around me. The magic of individuality, displayed by 28 nations at the Giardini Pavilons and many more at the Arsenale. See some of my favorites, including the Austrian contribution by Renate Bertlmann, below.

And just when you think this city can't get any more beautiful, you enter the restaurant at the famous Hotel Danieli and enjoy this view over the city. The sparkling sea, the calming noise of boats and gondoliere and the epic architecture from above. That's Amore!
