Minimalism is a state of mind. It affects the way we live, dress and consume. As passionate minimalist I get a lot of questions on my lifestyle and how it affects my happiness. So today I try to share 3 big reasons why Minimalism makes me happy + some tipps on how to simplify your life:
THE JOY OF SIMPLICITY. I know exactly what’s in my closet, my drawers and my bookshelves. When I got the feeling that I own too much stuff (which happens all the time), I’m selling parts of my wardrobe/posessions at my Tictail Shop and donate some pieces. After closet cleanouts I always feel incredibly liberated and clear-headed. I have one strict rule, that I follow relentlessly: For one new thing another thing must go. That’s a great way to simplify your e.g. wardrobe and once you stick to this rule, it feels damn good!!
LESS IS MORE. My closet and my flat is an absolute no-fuss zone. If something isn’t really needed, it’s gotta go. Think about all the random stuff that’s just there without a purpose. Do we really need this? Answer: Nope. If you have less you can concentrate on the important things in life: family, love, friends and health.
NO REGRETS. Being a sartorial minimalist definitely changed my personal style for the better. While living the no-fuss ideology (=buying less) I’ve developed my taste in fashion and I know exactly what I like and what not. Nowadays I only buy stuff when I’m 100% sure it’ll fit my aestethic and quality demands. When I’m shopping I use a simple trick: Before I buy a new piece of clothing I try to come up with at least 3 different ways to wear it. That’s how you will never regret a purchase.
