HOW TO FALL BACK IN LOVE WITH YOUR WINTER WARDROBE...
End of January is usually this time of the year where we all start to hate our winter clothes, feeling like we’ve worn it all a hundred times and start shopping random Sale Stuff to escape the sartorial boredom. Oh yes, that’s my current state of mind. But there are some tricks to spice things up and make your fall in love with your winter wardrobe again:
1. GRAB ALL YOUR FAVORITES
A simple trick to feel comfortable and happy is to mix all your favorite pieces together – to create a BEST OF Outfit. Like I did it in the Outfit you see here: none of the pieces are new. Some, like my beloved Acne Studios Cashmere Scarf, are over 6 years old. But whenever I’m super bored with my Winter Wardrobe I just grab all my very favorites (still so obsessed with these white boots) and it will instantly make me feel good.
2. SCAN YOUR CLOSET FOR LOST TREASURES
Take some time, empty your closet and lay all your clothes out. It’s pretty similar to the Wardrobe Detox but with the purpose to find lost treasures. Let’s be honest: we all have these kind of items in our closet! Pieces we basically love – but simply might not wear that often. Or those pieces we almost forgot that they existed, like that oversized XL Cardigan we once wore to death, the asymmetric Wool Skirt from 3 Winters ago, the statement hat… The list goes on and on but now is their time to shine! Grab them and style them with some of your favorite Winter Basics – it will definitely spark some sartorial joy.
3. ASK THE GRAM
Instagram has without a doubt endless Outfit Inspo potential. I love to save great Looks or Details in different folders – I got one for Spring/Summer/Fall/Winter. Whenever I feel uninspired I browse through that folders and chances are high I’ll find a Look that I can easily recreate within my wardrobe.
4. THE 10×10 WARDROBE CHALLENGE
I’ve heard about that challenge via Unfancy and it’s such a great idea to discover all the styling possibilities your winter wardrobe has to offer. The task is pretty simple: Pick 10 items from your closet (bags & accessories are not included). Then create 10 different Outfits for the next 10 days, using your 10 items. No need to buy anything new – just play with your existing wardrobe. Just check the weather forecast before you start – so that you’ll be prepared for all circumstances. You’ll be surprised how much fun these kind of challenges can be!
