THE BATHROOM SERIES: EVERYDAY SKINCARE REGIMEN.

It’s been ages since my last beauty post and this is for a reason. In December I had crazy break-outs (due to stress and nutrition issues) and therefore had to change my skincare routine completely. These things take time, like every healing process takes time and it took me a while to get used to all the new products my doctor recommended*. I wanted to make sure that I’ve tested everything carefully before I would talk about a „routine“. Because you guys deserve nothing but the best and this includes honest recommendations. This is and always has been my top priority.  However, I’m now more than ready to share my everyday skincare regimen with you. Maybe you’d like to try some of these products too:

CLEANSING

First confession: before I visited my doctor* I used to remove my make-up with these 2€ face wipes. That turned out to be an absolute horror for my (and every) skin because of all those crazy ingredients. So I changed my cleansing routine from 1x every evening to 2x per day. Morning and night. Because while we sleep our skin kinda cleanses itself – so we need to remove all the dirt in the morning for great results. Sounds logic to me. I’m using:

DR. BARBARA STURM Cleansing Foam (if I wear no/less make-up)

SKINCEUTICALS Blemish + Age Cleanser (if I wear more make-up). // I already bought bottle No2 because I use it so much. I love the fresh & cleansed feeling and it even removes waterproof mascara, which is a big plus. One of my favorite products at the moment!

CARE & PREPARE

In between cleansing and moisturizing I use the following products:

SKINCEUTICALS Phloretin Gel CF Gel // I use it every morning, after cleansing, before I apply the day cream. It’s an antioxidant treatment and provides environmental (e.g. pollution) protection.

GIORGIO ARMANI Maestro UV Primer // My go-to primer, whenever I put make-up on.

DR. BARBARA STURM Facial Scrub // My favorite exfoliation treatment for years. I use it 1-2x per week to remove dead skin cells.

MOISTURE

A well-hydrated skin is the most important thing for a healthy looking appearance. As my skin is more on the dry side of life, it needs some extra care and attention. Here are my everyday moisturizer:

SKINCEUTICALS Hydrating B5 Serum // I mix 1 drop every morning with my day cream and on very dry days (= too hot/too cold outside) I use it solo in the evenings. Extremely refreshing and hydrating – definitely worth the money!

SKINCEUTICALS Metacell Renewal Creme // My day & night creme since December. I’m obsessed with the silky texture and the fresh smell. Applying it gives my skin an instant relief and hydration boost, which is exactly what I need right now.

BIOTHERM Life Plankton Eye Cream // I was introduced to this new eye cream a couple of weeks ago and I’ve been using it ever since. I’m a big fan of the Biotherm textures and this eye cream is no exception. Extremely moisturizing and the smell is divine!

CHANEL La Créme Main // The best handcreme on planet earth. And the most stylish looking too.  Period.

LA PRAIRIE Illuminating Pearl Infusion // This serum is the latest addition to my skincare routine. It helps to diminish discoloration in our skin (caused by UV & blue light) and improves the luminosity and brightness. I think it’s more than time to support our skin in the fight against pollution and artificial lights. These unfortunately are „new“ challenges we all have to deal with.

ELIZABETH ARDEN 8 Hour Creme // This simple tube is definitely the  holy grail of skincare is definitely this simple tube! I think every make-up artist on planet earth is using this deeply moisturizing formula. I mostly use it for my lips and sometimes as an eyeshadow finish, but you can also use it to shape brows, soothe dry hands and smooth cuticles and nails. I can’t recommend this creme enough! Go get it guys!

That’s it – I hope you enjoyed reading all about my Skincare Routine. Disclaimer: I’m fully aware that some products I’ve mentioned are really pricey but in this case quality can make a huge difference! I’d rather choose to buy less make-up and beauty shenanigans and invest in a few high-quality skincare products instead. However,  I’m thinking about sharing my favorite make-up products and fragrances. Would you be interested in something like this? Let me know in the comments.

* My dermatologist is Dr. Kerstin Ortlechner, an extremely warmhearted, professional and capable doctor with the most beautiful office I’ve ever seen. I can’ recommend her enough, she really takes a lot of time for the consultation and listens very carefully.
