trying to inhale all the poetry of this place.
Borgo Egnazia. What sounds like a war combat drone from Star Wars is in fact the most beautiful hotel I've seen in my entire life. Other hotel guests might have seen me wander around, eyes and mouth wide open like a blowfish, trying to inhale all the poetry of this place.
Well, who would have thought that heaven was just a 1-hour drive from Bari airport away?
When I got invited by Bottega Veneta to a trip to Puglia I did not expect to land at a hotel that looks more like an ancient, white-washed fisher village. A maze-like resort (I got lost more than once, I guess that's why they hand out maps...) with a castle-like main building surrounded by dozens of mini villas (incl. private courtyards for each room), 2 gigantic pool areas, Spa temple and even a Piazza.
Every corner is dipped in sunlight. I mean, is this even real?
Imagine: you open the backdoor and instantly hear the birds chirping and the Italian sunlight streaming in...
The breakfast: there are 2 buffet areas at the Borgo Egnazia and both are on another level!! The first hotel I've ever stayed at that offers every type of milk you can imagine. The fresh figs (local, of course) were the best I've ever tasted. Same goes to the home-made pastry. Everyhing served on the most beautiful pottery.
The Rooms. Mine was in one of the mini villas, located in the village area, all featuring a private courtyard with lemon trees. 7 am. You open the backdoor and instantly hear the birds chirping and the Italian sunlight streaming in... Heaven on earth.
Loved the all-white interior with linen curtains, white brick walls, traditional ceramics, baskets filled with almonds and comfortable daybeds. Such a sanctuary – perfect for sun-soaked holidays.
Or a wedding, just like Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel did...
This place left me fascinated from check-in to check-out and it's most likely that I'll never forget my stay. A hidden gem right at the Mediterranean sea.
